HOT BONES x Mike Han - Pop-Up Class

We were incredibly inspired by Mike Han’s debut Detroit gallery exhibition, Mike Han: United by Design. The exhibition showcases his signature creative practices — inspired by Korean heritage, graffiti, and modern design — on original salvaged Albert Kahn and Minoru Yamasaki architectural blueprints. The prolific architects designed Detroit’s grand landmarks and industrial automotive factories — Detroit’s hot bones that inspire us every day.

HOT BONES is hosting a Restorative Yoga & Sonic Meditation pop-up in the middle of Mike Han's exhibition in collaboration with exceptional partners:

--> Location by PLAYGROUND — Art gallery in Detroit focused on creating opportunities for artists and creative professionals to support and develop Detroit's creative economy.

--> Yoga by Giustina Easton (G) — G intersects somatic resourcefulness and anatomical precision through body-minded techniques to facilitate self regulation and uplift inner healing.

--> Sound by Afro Moone — Afro Moone is a detroit-based holistic resource founded by sound practitioner Sophiyah Elizabeth, specializing in frequency meditation, bio-field awareness, and spiritual liberation practices.

Manduka® equipment will be provided by HOT BONES free of charge, no need to bring your own mats, blocks, or towels. Note that pop-up classes are not heated — all future classes at HOT BONES will take place in an infrared heated environment.

Fluency & Pliability: Unwinding Patterns of Stagnation

In this workshop we’ll intersect Eastern theory with Western modalities through self massage and yoga asana. The transition between spring and summer is the optimal for body therapies that clear and restructure our layers of being, from energetic to physical. We will begin practice on our mats to build heat in growing structures such as muscles, tendons and fascia. Then, we'll dive into self massage techniques that target musculoskeletal chains to work to unwind energetic and physical build-up following the winter season. $60 with self massage therapy balls, $45 without.

2.5 hours bankable toward Katonah® Yoga Certification.

A Spot Lite on Yoga with Erika

Our monthly installment of yoga at Spot Lite features a DJ set by ERIKA. Erika dreams on the cellular level, or perhaps of transdimensional intelligences moving through strange patterns on celestial objects, working towards a mysterious goal. Her connection to the dreamworld becomes concrete in her approach to music, simultaneously so solid and yet so ethereal.

Erika is currently splitting her time between being based in Berlin and Detroit, is part of the triumvirate that runs Interdimensional Transmissions (BMG, Erika and Amber) that are releasing this record and produce legendary events such as No Way Back, Samhain and Return to the Source. She performs live and DJs and collaborates and oozes sonic truth in its many forms.

A Spot Lite on Yoga with Turtle Bugg

Our monthly installment of yoga at Spot Lite features a DJ set by TURTLE BUGG, a DJ of African Diasporic descent that plays vinyl records in the style he refers to as “this thang formerly known as house”.

Unearthing gems that others had passed on taught him the art of digging. While other DJs are stuck in the endless cycle of cool, Bugg is impervious to trends.

In addition to his own artistic endeavors, Treezy is part of the Freakish Pleasures collective and runs the record label Basement Floor with his Soul 2 Seoul partner Chung.
